Teen Arrested for ‘Street Takeover’ — “Several people have been identified and charged in connection to a ‘street takeover’ in Springfield on Sunday (March 31). The Fairfax County Police Department announced today (Wednesday) that detectives arrested and charged an 18-year-old man from Woodbridge and a 17-year-old Arlington [boy] who allegedly took part in a rowdy ‘mob’ in a parking lot in the 6600 block of Electronic Drive around 3 a.m.” [FFXnow]

Athletic Field ‘Crunch Time’ — “It’s the time of year for maximum friction among prospective users as the need for athletic fields in Arlington outstrips available resources. Church Development Plan ‘On Hold’ — “The two partners in June of 2023 applied to the Arlington County government for a zoning change that would allow the construction of a building that could accommodate as many as 92 residential apartments for seniors 55 or 62 and older… Garrett Jackson, APAH’s Director of Resource Development and Communications, told the Blade that APAH on behalf of the church asked the Zoning Administrator to put the application on hold while the church and APAH consider revisions for the project.” [Washington Blade]

Traffic Stop Leads to Gun Charge — “At approximately 5:52 p.m. on March 27, an officer conducted a traffic stop after observing a moving violation involving a vehicle displaying improper registration. During the course of the investigation, the officer determined that neither the driver nor passenger of the vehicle possessed a valid driver’s license. During a search of the vehicle prior to towing, a loaded firearm with extended magazine and a distribution amount of marijuana were recovered.” [ACPD]

Tennis Ball Recycling Falters —  “Sometimes, you just can’t give them away, as supporters are finding in their desire to repurpose used, but still usable, tennis balls in Arlington. The matter was addressed at a March 19 joint meeting of the Arlington County government’s Sports Commission and Park and Recreation Commission.
