The Election Day clown sighting was reported around 5 p.m. in the Nauck neighborhood. Initially, police dispatchers were told that the clown had a gun.

Here’s a public service announcement, inspired by this week’s Arlington County Police Department crime report: if you’re driving a stolen car, the least you can do is refrain from driving it while drunk.
An Ohio woman was arrested near the Virginia Square Metro station early Monday morning for allegedly doing just that.
The incident happened Saturday afternoon at a used car lot on Lee Highway, near Lyon Village.
Police say the customer eventually pulled a knife on the employee and “stole the keys to the vehicles on the lot.”
The incident happened on the 300 block of N. Glebe Road, just south of Ballston. It was reported Monday afternoon, well after the crime was committed.
Police say both the woman who did the talking and the guy who did the punching are suspects in the robbery.
The crime happened close to the entrance to the Bluemont Junction Trail. Attempts by police to find the suspect were unsuccessful.

The burglary occurred at a car dealership on the unit block of N. Glebe Road sometime before 10:19 a.m. yesterday morning.
One of the business’s employees arrived at work to find the store’s sliding glass doors were broken and that someone had ransacked the place.
Two women who were walking behind the victim at the time offered to help clean up the liquid. After the encounter, the victim walked away, only to realize that cash had been stolen from her purse.

(Updated at 6 p.m.) Two men wanted for stealing tires and rims from at least three cars in the Pentagon City area this month have been caught on camera, Arlington County Police said today.
The thefts happened on the 1600 block of S. Joyce Street around 7:15 a.m. on Sept. 8, the 1300 block of Army Navy Drive around 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 8 and the 900 block of S. 15th Street around 3 a.m. on Sept. 20.
The threat prompted a sweep of the building, which houses Arlington County Police headquarters and local courts. No explosives were found.

Police say the suspect, 34-year-old Michael Black, inexplicably claimed to be a volunteer firefighter after being stopped by officers, even going so far as to flash a fake badge.
