We just wanted to take a quick moment to thank everybody who will be working over the Christmas holiday.

From emergency personnel to military service members to media workers to retail and service employees, here’s to the dedicated men and women who will be protecting, informing and serving us while much of the community is opening presents and spending time with family.

Also, here’s to everybody who is forgoing a holiday trip or skipping a family gathering in order to be “on call” for their job this weekend.

Are you working over Christmas? Or did you start your holiday break days ago?

  • Chris

Of course, I’m a pastor, so working on Christmas comes with the territory …

A Merry Christmas to all, and many thanks to police, fire, medical and other personnel who will be working over the holiday! Truly your work of serving others exemplifies the meaning of this season.

My option was not listed. I am on call so I cannot go on the family ski trip that we have had since I was a kid 🙁

  • CrystalMikey

    I echo your sentiments ARLnow!

  • Rudolph

Tried to get the night off this year, but no dice. My boss can’t buckle his boots without me, yet takes all the credit !

    • Donner

Just be glad you have a job in this economy Rudy. Work one night a year, not too shabby. By the way, how do you help buckle the boots without opposable thumbs?

      • Rudolph

I have very nimble lips. Just ask Vixen ;>

don’t forget about those of us in healthcare who aren’t emergency personnel! medicare doesn’t have holidays. i’m just happy i won’t have to sit in traffic on my way to and from work for a few days =)

Thanks ARLnow, and all the citizens who show us appreciation day in and day out. There are many parts of the country where Police, Fire, EMS, ER staff, and other public safety are not liked or as well regarded as they are in Arlington. Fortunately, this is one of the occasional Christmas’ that I’ll get a few days away, but everyone have a Merry Christmas, keep it safe, and remember those around us who are in need.
