Storm Photos from Last Night

Despite ominous black clouds and frequent lightning, last night’s line of thunderstorms hit pretty much everywhere but Arlington.

Other than a few drops in Clarendon and a brief shower in Rosslyn, the storm managed to bypass Arlington completely. Nonetheless, the clouds and the natural light show made for some good photos. Here are a few sent to us by readers.

Cool. I recognized photo 4 from Arlington Village, my hood. Little rain if I recall, lights of thunderclaps and lightning though.

Good catch, that’s back by the offices.

Cakes must be the infamous “Cupcake” from the moribund AV Blog.

It also rained over in Donaldson Run, or is that no longer part of Arlington?

Give the guy a break, he can’t know every single place that got rain.

    • We would like to apologize for not being able to inspect every section of Arlington for raindrops last night.

It is a minor point, really, but you are a journalist. You made a simple declarative statement of supposed fact: “Other than a few drops in Clarendon and a brief shower in Rosslyn, the storm managed to bypass Arlington completely.” I am not suggesting that you need to inspect every corner of the County for rain, only that you be more accurate in declaring the scope of your survey. Again, I minor point, but I just cannot help noticing stuff like this. BTW, I think ARLnow.com is fantastic and that you do an excellent job.

Here, I’ll rewrite it for you:

“Other than a few drops in Clarendon and a brief shower in Rosslyn, and possibly some other areas within the boundaries of Arlington County which we may or may not be aware of but certainly may have received a detectable level of precipitation herewith unmentioned but not withheld by intention of malice or neglect but simply due to a dearth of complete knowledge and not intending to hurt the feelings of those residents theretofore wetted by such precipitation that may or may not have occurred in the aforementioned time span, the storm managed to bypass Arlington completely.”

          Happy now?

Uncle. I will beat a hasty retreat. I guess being sloppy is good enough for blog work.

Rosslynite, I think you need to find something better to do with your time………………. seriously……………

          That’s what she said?

Is there a Metro station in this “Donaldson Run” — no? Then it’s probably technically not a part of Arlington County.

Was kind of a disappointmet, the grass could have used some rain.

The amazing thing is that planes were taking off during this storm one after another from DCA to the north. It must have been quite the show for passengers aboard these planes watching lightening all around you (but of course not along your path)

No, I’m not Cupcake. I’ma Junkies fan that lives in AV is all (commence with Junkies hatred in 3,2,1…)
