Chain Bridge will close for repairs on three different weekends over the next month.

The bridge will close on 8:00 p.m. on Friday and will reopen at 5:00 a.m. on Monday, starting this weekend, according to DDOT.

The three weekends when closures are planned are Aug. 19-21, Sept. 9-11 and Sept. 16-18.

The Dr. Gridlock column in the Post says, “These weekend closings will be complete shutdowns. There will be no access to the bridge from either the District or Arlington for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. Canal Road will remain open, but drivers won’t be able to turn onto Chain Bridge.”

Walking and biking? What are those?

Didn’t they have something like a 2 year project on Chain Bridge that ended a year ago? And now another unrelated series of closures that they couldn’t have done before? GREAT planning.

On North Glebe Road in Arlington, there is a sign that says “Chian Bridge Road” will be closed starting Sept 9, but it’s the bridge that will be closed, right? Not the road. There is a big difference. Also, “Chian” should be spelled “Chain.” The sign is at the intersection of Williamsburg Road and N. Glebe Road in Arlington. It’s one of the lighted portable signs.
