Service Changes to ART 41 Buses Begin Today

(Updated at 11:15 a.m.) Service changes begin today for the ART 41 bus due to construction at Arlington Mill.

Although buses will continue to stop at Columbia Pike Plaza Shopping Center at Columbia Pike and S. Dinwiddie Street, they will no longer take a rest break at that location. The new layover location is at westbound Columbia Pike before Greenbrier Street.

Due to construction along the route, ART 41 buses might be off schedule. Metrobus 16G could also be affected.

Construction is supposed to continue for about one year.

To ArInow I love Robert Dinwiddie the British Lieutenant Governor of Colonial Virginia, but I don’t think the plaza is named after him. I think Columbia Pike Plaza is what it is called.

My apologies to ArlNow, I see you gathered your information from the ART website, you may want to know that every 41 that I have been on has never taken a rest stop at the Columbia Pike Plaza stop (that would be blocking traffic), but the 45 has always had a layover at the corner of Greenbrier and Columbia Pike since that is the first stop for the route.

I was hoping that the ART41 will use another route to avoid N. Barton Street between Pershing and 10th St. N. This is a narrow and overloaded residential street but in August the wisdom of the Arlington Transportation was to send four of these large vehicles down our street every hour. I would understand if servicing a need but WMATA passes each way every half hour and they actually have a stop in that section, ART is “express” so it’s just passing through. I contacted the department responsible and suggested alternate routes on roads more capable of handling the load.

as if ART cares about you and your street.
      sorry, but they don’t.
      which is wrong.
maybe your civic association should get involved. send the buses up wash blvd and fillmore street to Clarendon Blvd., where they belong.

Correction: The ART bus that should get off N. Barton St. is route #45.

Is this a portion of ART 41 or ART 45 between Clarendon & Courthouse? Both bus routes pass through my neighborhood but the closest I am to Barton Street is where it crosses Columbia Pike near Arlington Village and the Penrose Giant. I’m in the 5200 block of 8th Road South near Baileys Crossroads.

Talk about crowded blocks! Fillmore at N. 10th St. is one-way North for one block except at the regular times of the day when drivers fail to note the signs for ONE WAY and plow thru them all to bust out of N. 10th! Visit any hour during the day to see these jokers maneuver in this block! Is it related to the ABC store on that corner? Can’t be that! They are drunk, just sure they want to go that way. Maybe they would be lost having to take other streets!
