Glebe Road is being shut down in both directions between Chain Bridge Road and Military Road due to a downed tree.

County crews are en route to remove the tree, which is said to be down across the entire road.

Drivers should expect significant traffic impacts.

Phew. Missed that. That’s on my way to work.

    “Drivers should expect significant impacts.”

You mean they expect more trees to fall? Let’s hope not – a tree falling on you would definitely be quite an “impact”!

In the reporting on the Georgetown Pike tree that smushed the Benz and unfort killed the driver, Fairfax County indicated that they were indeed checking other trees to assess the risk.

    Rough morning on Glebe

I remember that happening about 30 yrs ago in the same area at PM rush hour. Killed a poor guy who was sitting in traffic. There just happened to be a crane behind him and they got the tree off very quickly but he never had a chance.

How does this affect Donaldson Run? Is a swift rescue team needed?

    • DRYC Commodore

We are redeploying the mobile dock unit to enable DR residents to bypass that area.

      Commodore, out

  • Yikes

Trees have been hanging over the road since the Derecho. I hope no one was hurt.

I came up Glebe from Chair Bridge at about 1:30. No tree.

VDOT was notified of this tree two weeks ago, just FYI.
