APS to Open on Two Hour Delay Due to Snow

Snow on the roads in Pentagon CityA light snow has fallen on Arlington, just enough to whiten the ground.

Forecasters say the accumulating snow has likely ended for Arlington. While few problems have been reported on the roads so far, earlier this morning Arlington Public Schools made the call to open on a two hour delay.

Arlington joins D.C. and Loudoun, Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in opening two hours late. Fairfax and Prince William counties have closed school for the day. The federal and Arlington County governments are open on time with an option for unscheduled leave or telework.

From APS, around 5:00 a.m.:

At this time, based on the current weather forecast and conditions, Arlington Public Schools plans to open two hours late today. We are going to continue to monitor the weather with APS road crews evaluating road conditions throughout the county and we will reassess the status of a delayed opening within the next two hours. We will reconfirm our status for today’s operations by 7 a.m. Please check for an update at that time to confirm our operations status has not changed due to deteriorating road conditions.
