Crime Report: Westover Residents Scare Away Man Trying to Enter Shed

Arlington County police carA man tried to break into a backyard shed a block away from the Westover Village shopping center last night.

Police say the residents of the home on 16th Street N. confronted the man, which caused him to run off.

From the Arlington County Police crime report:

BREAKING & ENTERING, 151007069, 5800 block of N. 16th Street. At approximately 8:35 p.m. on October 7, an unknown subject was seen attempting to gain access to a shed in the backyard of a residence. The residents confronted the subject causing him to flee. The suspect is described as a white male in his twenties, approximately 5’6″ tall and weighing 150 lbs. He was wearing a black long sleeve shirt, black pants, and was carrying a big black bag.

SEXUAL ASSAULT, 151003007, 1800 block of N. Scott Street. At approximately 2:33 a.m. on October 3, a 23 year-old female victim was followed home and pushed into the bushes by an unknown male subject. The subject touched the victim inappropriately and implied that he had a knife. The suspect is described as a black male in his 20’s, approximately 5’10”-5’11” tall and was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.

ROBBERY, 151002044, 4800 block of S. Columbia Pike. At approximately 8:35 p.m. on October 2, two subjects robbed a 24 year-old male victim of his wallet which followed with a physical altercation. A juvenile suspect was arrested and transported to the detention facility. The second suspect is described as a black male in his teens, approximately 5’7″ tall with a shaved head.

BURGLARY, 151001026, 1600 block of S. Crystal Drive. Between 4:30 p.m. on September 30 and 10:30 a.m. on October 1, an unknown subject(s) forced entry into a store and stole several items to include an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 151003002, 2000 block of N. Adams Street. Between 11:28 p.m. and 11:58 p.m. on October 2, two unknown male subjects stole a TV and cut a hole in the side of a laundry coin card machine. The first suspect was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, black gloves, and a white ski mask. The second suspect was wearing a white beanie style hat, a gray heavy jacket, black gloves, black pants, and was carrying an orange bag.

BURGLARY, 151003023, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. Between 9:56 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on October 2, two unknown subjects cut a hole in the tarp covering a kiosk and stole an undisclosed amount of money. The first suspect is described as a black male approximately 6’0″ tall with long black dreads. He was wearing a dark short sleeved shirt, dark pants, and white sneakers. The second subject is described as a black female approximately 5’5″ tall with a baseball hat on. She was wearing a pink sweatshirt, black shirt, blue jeans, and fashion boots.

BREAKING & ENTERING, 151001019, 1500 block of S. Crystal Drive. Between 6:15 p.m. on September 30 and 9:30 a.m. on October 1, an unknown subject(s) cut a hole in a gate and entered a store. The subject(s) stole an undisclosed amount of money from a cash register. There is no suspect(s) description.

ATTEMPTED BREAKING & ENTERING, 151002022, 4100 block of N. 3rd Road. At approximately 1:00 p.m. on October 2, an unknown male subject entered a residence but fled when confronted by a resident. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male wearing a white hooded sweatshirt.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (series), 151006039, 1500 block of S. Crystal Drive. Between12:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on October 6, an unknown subject(s) entered at least three vehicles in a one block radius and stole numerous items. There is no suspect(s) description.
