This week’s Arlington Pet of the Week is Jazzy, a cat who’s from the heartland, rocks some distinguished white hair and who has her sights set on the (small, furry) white house.
Here’s Jazzy’s stump speech, written by her campaign manager (and owner), Stacey.
Hello, my fellow Americans! My name is Jazzy. I’m originally from Kansas City and am named after the Jazz music district where I was found as a kitten. My family moved to Arlington last year so I could begin my political career. My dad also took a promotion to his DC office – helpful coincidence!
My hobbies include bird watching out our patio door, chasing the elusive red laser and trying to eat cheese off my parents’ plates. I also work really hard. My most frequent tasks include waking my parents before their alarms go off, running around my mom’s feet when she does workout DVDs, and patrolling the hallway to make sure all is well in our apartment building. All that work requires frequent naps, as well. My scientific studies determined the best sleep can be found in a basket of clean laundry!
Don’t let this fluffy face fool you – I can put my paw down when necessary. I’m the perfect combination of compassion and cattitude that is needed in a leader. You can learn more about my campaign and adventures on social media. I look forward to being your purrresident. Vote Jazzy! #jazzy2016
Want your pet to be considered for the Arlington Pet of the Week? Email [email protected] with a 2-3 paragraph bio and at least 3-4 horizontally-oriented photos of your pet. Please don’t send vertical photos, they don’t fit in our photo galleries!
Each week’s winner receives a sample of dog or cat treats from our sponsor, Becky’s Pet Care, along with $100 in Becky’s Bucks. Becky’s Pet Care is the winner six consecutive Angie’s List Super Service Awards, the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters’ 2013 Business of the Year and a proud supporter of the Arlington County Pawsitively Prepared Campaign.
Becky’s Pet Care provides professional dog walking and pet sitting in Arlington and all of Northern Virginia, as well as PetPrep training courses for Pet Care, CPR and emergency preparedness.
