Arlington Pet of the Week: Hershey

Becky's Pet Care

This week’s Arlington Pet of the Week is Hershey, a two-year-old lab mix who just moved to the county.

Here’s what his owner, Kaitlyn, had to say on his behalf:

Hi, everyone! I’m Hershey, a two-year-old labrador, beagle, and Staffordshire terrier mix who’s a recent transplant from Fairfax County! My Ma was taking a look at all the things going on in Arlington, when she saw the Pet of the Week spot! At first, she didn’t want to submit because sometimes she goes overboard with her affection, but I told her it’s okay.

A little bit about me: I can be a pretty shy guy, but once you get to know me, I’m really fantastic. There’s nothing more I love than seeing my Ma when she gets home — once I accidentally knocked the gate over, but I was just so excited! Once I wind down, though, you can always find me in one of my three beds: my dog bed, my crate, or on Ma’s bed. I also like to get Ma’s attention by laying on her. It’s pretty effective, if you want to try it at home. But if you need a shortcut to my heart, go through my stomach: I love, love, love my minnow treats the best, probably followed by the biscuits Ma hides in the apartment when she leaves — kind of like hide and seek! But, hide and…eat?

Since moving to Arlington, I’ve found a few favorite new things. From running in Shirlington Dog Park to picking up new treats at Dogma Bakery, there’s just so much for me to do here! I hope we stay for a long, long time.

You can follow all my adventures at @hershey_thelab!

9th Street Chamber Music is back in business for its second season! 9SCM is disrupting the stereotypes of classical music as stuffy, dry, and elite through dynamic yet accessible performances and its one-of-a-kind String Quartet Intensive for young musicians in the DC Metro area.

[9th Street Quartet](https://www.9thstreetchambermusic.com/9th-street- quartet)’s first concert is on Sunday, October 16 at 4:00 PM. The group will offer, for the first time, a ‘Playlist Shuffle’ themed concert featuring single movements of string quartet favorites. Rehearsals began Monday, September 27 for the String Quartet Intensive, welcoming 32 new and returning members to the program.
