Arlington Pet of the Week: Maggie

This week’s Arlington Pet of the Week is Maggie, a deaf English Springer Spaniel living in Ballston.

Here’s what her owner, Blake, had to say:

Maggie is a 5-month old English Springer Spaniel. We welcomed her into our lives when we adopted her from a North Carolina rescue agency. Maggie is completely deaf. She had been bred as part of a litter for bird hunting. Upon learning of her disability, the breeder no longer required her services and passed her along to the agency.

Maggie is very sweet and eager to learn. She’s already able to receive and understand multiple hand signals such as sit, paw, lay down, here, etc. She’s full of energy! It’s not uncommon to see her “springing” all over Ballston sidewalks as she chases fall leaves. Her favorite activities are hallway sprints with tennis balls in the apartment and snuggling on the couch. On the occasional weekend, Maggie travels north to PA where she plays with 3-4 of her best dog friends and runs frantically around backyards.

We’re grateful to have Maggie as part of our lives! She loves people so if you see her around town, feel free to say hi.
