Free jazz concerts are returning to Metropolitan Park in Pentagon City starting this week.
The first performance, featuring the JoGo Project, will take place this Thursday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Attendees are invited to bring chairs or sit on the green at 1330 S. Fair Street starting at 4 p.m.
“Ease into the evening with musical performances at one of National Landing’s newest park spaces,” the event’s webpage says.
A complete schedule of performances, sponsored by the D.C. Jazz Festival and National Landing BID, is as follows:
- May 16: Samuel Prather & the G.O! 4tet (soul/funk/jazz)
- May 23: Joe Brotherton Quartet (post bop, Afro-Latin, modern bebop, New Orleans jazz)
- May 30: The Marshall Keys Group featuring Federico Peña, Mark Prince, and Michael Bowie (jazz fusion)
- June 6: Alex Hamburger (electric and acoustic)
- June 13: Siné Qua Non (Victor Provost, Mark Prince, Lyle Link, Michael Bowie) (neoclassical jazz fusion)
- June 20: Akua Allrich & the Tribe (pan-African)
