Weekly jazz concerts return to Pentagon City starting Thursday

Free jazz concerts are returning to Metropolitan Park in Pentagon City starting this week.

The first performance, featuring the JoGo Project, will take place this Thursday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Attendees are invited to bring chairs or sit on the green at 1330 S. Fair Street starting at 4 p.m.

“Ease into the evening with musical performances at one of National Landing’s newest park spaces,” the event’s webpage says.

A complete schedule of performances, sponsored by the D.C. Jazz Festival and National Landing BID, is as follows:

  • May 16: Samuel Prather & the G.O! 4tet (soul/funk/jazz)
  • May 23: Joe Brotherton Quartet (post bop, Afro-Latin, modern bebop, New Orleans jazz)
  • May 30: The Marshall Keys Group featuring Federico Peña, Mark Prince, and Michael Bowie (jazz fusion)
  • June 6: Alex Hamburger (electric and acoustic)
  • June 13: Siné Qua Non (Victor Provost, Mark Prince, Lyle Link, Michael Bowie) (neoclassical jazz fusion)
  • June 20: Akua Allrich & the Tribe (pan-African)
