Columbia Pike summer film fest lineup announced

The Columbia Pike Movie Nights lineup for this summer has been announced.

This year’s films, screened outdoors on Friday and Saturday nights, include old-school classics like Dirty Dancing and Top Gun as well as more recent releases such as Barbie, The Color Purple and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

All movies start at sunset between 8 and 8:30 p.m. in July and August, and will be played in English with Spanish subtitles.

Friday night flicks will be at Arlington Mill Community Center (909 S. Dinwiddie Street) while Saturday screenings are at Penrose Square (2501 9th Road S.).

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets. Leashed pets are permitted but alcohol is not.

  • July 5 — Super Mario Bros
  • July 12 — Hairspray
  • July 19 — Vivo
  • July 26 — PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie
  • Aug. 2 — Wonka
  • Aug. 9 — Top Gun
  • Aug. 16 — Tokyo Godfathers

Other free, outdoor entertainment in Arlington this spring and summer includes a summer concert series at Lubber Run Park and weekly jazz concerts at Metropolitan Park in Pentagon City.
