Music series among new summer events at GMU’s Virginia Square campus

It will be a busy summer at George Mason University’s Virginia Square campus.

Joining the slate of events held at The Plaza at Mason Square — located at 3351 Fairfax Drive — this year is an outdoor music series, as well as a reading series and weekly tai chi.

The music series, held on Thursdays, will vary in genre each week. Here is the list of upcoming performances:

  • June 6: Charlie Sayes with Memphis Gold and the Scrap Iron Band (blues)
  • June 13: David Thong Band (rock cover)
  • June 20: Maria & The Sacred Hearts (cover & latin)
  • June 27: The Hand Painted Swinger (variety rock)
  • July 11: Green & Gold Soul Powered by The Green Machine (variety rock)
  • July 18: Crooked Sparrow (Americana fusion)
  • July 25: ilyAIMY (acoustic grunge)
  • Aug. 1: Infinite Daisy Chains (synth-pop)
  • Aug. 8: Mama Moon and the Rumpshakers (blues fusion)

The summer series will run through August 9.
