Adoptable Pet of the Week: Dottie

Meet Dottie, a beautiful 3-year-old dog in need of a forever home!

This sweet and gentle girl is a hound mix that is currently in foster while she waits to find a loving family.

Her foster family had a few words to say about Dottie:

She loves: all dogs, playing with her dog friends, zoomies in the yard, long sniffy walks in the woods, and pets and treats of course! She would love a family with a younger dog to play with and a family that shares her love of the outdoors.

Dottie has been in a foster home through Homeward Trails for the past 4 months. She was initially a shy, timid dog and has gained confidence and shows her playful, sweet personality more and more every day! Loud noises and sudden movements still make her nervous and she takes time to acclimate to new surroundings.

Dottie has never shown any aggression toward people or dogs whatsoever, her nervousness manifests in an inclination toward flight if triggered and not fight. She is looking for a patient family to help her continue to build her confidence.

Dottie loves her crate, it is a safe, happy place. She rides well in a car and is comfortable on a leash. Her energy level would work well with almost any home. She is excited on her walks but also burns off energy in the yard and with play. When she is at home she is a very chill pup who is happy to relax in a quiet environment.

She is looking for her very own family to love and share life’s adventures. Her interactions with cats are unknown so we could go over introductions if that’s a potential part of her furrever.
