Morning Poll: Have spam text messages been getting worse for you?

Telemarketing calls have been the bane of phone owners for decades, but an escalation led to action against “robocalls” by state and federal elected officials alike over the past couple of years.

A more modern telecommunications annoyance, meanwhile, may be taking the spotlight away from such calls.

Spam SMS text messages have been getting some recent attention, with online guides sprouting up to tell consumers how to block or report them.

There are the unwanted political texts that seem impossible to stop during campaign season. Or the fake wrong-number texts that often lead to scams. Or garden-variety spam promoting loans, timeshare presentations and other schemes.

Regardless of what kind of spam texts you’re getting, today we’re wondering whether you’re seeing more such messages since the start of the year compared to the same period one year ago.
