A new update to Microsoft Flight Simulator has included a much needed visual upgrade for Arlington, bringing new life to the county’s landmarks and neighborhoods.
The game, which allows armchair pilots to visit any location on the planet, previously had a very barebones version of the area, with little more than square blocks to denote local buildings.
The new update brings a much greater degree of detail in urban areas. The update includes Arlington as part of an overhaul to the D.C. region, which includes improvements to the District and other cities further north along the East Coast.
“City Update IX highlights select locations throughout the northeastern United States with updated aerial imagery, new digital elevation models, and TIN (triangulated irregular network) surface texturing,” Microsoft said in a press release.
