Arlington County police are investigating a smash-and-grab robbery in Pentagon City.
The incident happened just after 3 p.m. Monday, on the 1200 block of S. Fern Street, a block from the Metro station.
Two men with hammers smashed display cases at the MyEyeDr. office and ran off with numerous pairs of eyeglass frames, according to initial reports. They also threatened an employee with a hammer, police said.
Officers responded quickly but were unable to find the suspects in the area.

ROBBERY, 2024-07220137, 1200 block of S. Fern Street. At approximately 3:09 p.m. on July 22, police were dispatched to the report of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, it was determined the two male suspects entered the business, broke glass display cases with a hammer and collected merchandise before exiting the store without payment. As the suspects were exiting, one suspect threatened an employee with the hammer before fleeing the scene on foot. No injuries were reported. Suspect One is described as a thin-build Black male, approximately 5’5”-5’6”, 21-25 years old with a beard wearing a black hoodie, black jeans and white sneakers. Suspect Two is described as a thin-build Black male, 5’6”-5’8”, 21-25 years old with black dreadlocks wearing a white sweatshirt, black jeans, white sneakers, sunglasses and a blue backpack. The investigation is ongoing.
