Just over 1,200 Dominion customers were without power in Arlington this morning on an exceptionally sweltering day.
The outage affected a far northern section of Arlington — along parts of N. Glebe Road, Military Road and Chesterbrook Road — plus a portion of McLean. It followed reports of an arcing power line on the 3600 block of Miliary Road, which prompted a fire department response.
Police, meanwhile, responded to assist with traffic control at the intersection of Glebe and Chesterbrook, where traffic lights were reported to be dark. And ACFD returned to the area around noon after a resident expressed concern about smoke coming from the generator of a water pumping station.
As of noon, the outage is down to 141 customers, mostly in the Rivercrest neighborhood along Military Road. Dominion’s website has a current restoration estimate of between 4-7 p.m., citing “emergency work” as the cause of the outage.
