Arlington’s Torri Huske just helped the U.S. capture gold in the mixed 4x100m medley relay.
It’s Huske’s second gold and fourth medal in Paris. She appeared exhausted after her freestyle swim in the last leg of the relay, narrowly hanging on to edge the Chinese relay team by 0.12 seconds.
“What an Olympics for Torri Huske!” exclaimed NBC swimming commentator Dan Hicks immediately after the Saturday evening race, as her teammates celebrated and she tried to catch her breath.
The broadcast indicated the team’s time set a new world record. Huske said after the race that she was grateful for her teammates.
“I didn’t want to let them down,” she told NBC 4.
The Yorktown High School grad previously won the silver in the 100m freestyle individual event.
WHAT AN EFFORT.
