ACPD investigating another armed rental car theft in Crystal City

Three days after three men carjacked a rental car off the lot in the Crystal City area, three men stole two more cars from a nearby lot.

The incident, classified as a robbery, happened around 5:15 p.m. Sunday on the 2700 block of Richmond Highway, which is home to an Enterprise rental lot. One of the men was armed, police said.

“Three male suspects entered the parking lot of a business during which Suspect One and Suspect Two entered two parked, unoccupied running vehicles,” said a new Arlington County Police Department crime report. “An employee observed and attempted to close the gate to the parking lot when Suspect Three approached, pushed the gate back open, brandished a firearm and made threatening statements towards the employee before entering one of the vehicles.”

“No injuries were reported,” the crime report adds. “The suspects then fled the scene in the two vehicles described as a Black 2024 Volkswagen Atlas with Florida license plate 91DQHZ and a Silver 2024 Hyundai Tucson with Florida license plate 57DQBW.”

Later that night, one of the stolen vehicles was spotted in the same area, prompting a large police response, including assistance from Virginia State Police and the Fairfax County police helicopter. No arrests were reported, however.
