Free ice cream outside HQ2 today in honor of National Banana Split Day

Amazon and Toby’s Homemade Ice Cream have partnered to serve free banana splits outside HQ2 this afternoon (Friday).

From noon to 2 p.m. today at Metropolitan Park, 510 14th Street S., the community is invited to celebrate National Banana Split Day with a free scoop of chocolate, vanilla or strawberry ice cream and customized toppings. This is in addition to the free bananas passersby can ordinarily snag near HQ2.

The community event will feature live music as well as family friendly crafts and games provided by the Museum of Contemporary Art, according to a press release.

WHO: Amazon, Toby’s Ice Cream, and Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA)  Arlington.

WHAT: In celebration of National Banana Split Day, Amazon has partnered with local small businesses located at its second headquarters campus in Arlington (HQ2 at Metropolitan Park) to provide free banana splits for the community. HQ2 retailer Toby’s Ice Cream will be offering event attendees a scoop of ice cream (chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry) that they can then take to Amazon’s banana split bar to adorn with bananas and banana split toppings. This free event will also feature live music and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MoCA) Arlington will be onsite hosting crafts and games for attendees of all ages — making it the perfect way to indulge in a classic treat from a Amazon and local businesses.

WHERE: Amazon’s HQ2 at Metropolitan Park, 510 14 St S, Arlington, VA 22202.

WHEN: Friday, August 23 from 12pm-2pm.

WHY: Banana Split Day is a legacy event that was started at Amazon’s HQ1 as part of free community events with the company’s iconic banana stand. This is the third year that Amazon has hosted this event in Arlington. Amazon is proud to call Arlington home and to be a good neighbor by providing free events for neighbors and the local community, in partnership with the local HQ2 businesses at Metropolitan Park.
