An 18-year-old man from Arlington has been charged with DUI Maiming after a crash at the Bluemont 7-Eleven store.
The crash happened just before 8 p.m. this past Saturday, Sept. 14. Police say the teen was drunk when he drove his vehicle through the front of the store at 5122 Wilson Blvd, seriously injuring a woman.
“At approximately 7:56 p.m. on September 14, police were dispatched to N. Emerson Street at Wilson Boulevard for the report of a crash with injuries,” Arlington County police spokeswoman Ashley Savage tells ARLnow. “The preliminary investigation indicates the suspect drove his vehicle into a parking lot in the 5100 block of Wilson Boulevard and struck a pedestrian and a business.”
“The pedestrian, an adult female, suffered critical but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital,” Savage continued. “The suspect was taken into custody on scene. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.”
A photo from the scene shows a pickup truck and extensive damage to the front of the store.
Police say the driver, an 18-year-old Arlington resident, “was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DUI) Maiming and No Operator’s License.” He is currently being held at the Arlington County jail.
