Green Valley Day coming this weekend with live music and a moon bounce

Green Valley’s annual summer celebration is scheduled to return this weekend.

Food vendors, a moon bounce and live music will be coming to the area around Charles R. Drew Elementary School this Saturday at the annual Green Valley Day.

The event, which will be held at both the school (3500 23rd Street S.) and John Robinson Jr. Town Square (2406 Shirlington Road), will run from noon to 6 p.m. Activities include a basketball tournament and a “game truck,” in addition to a Green Valley historical display, a health fair and on-site voter registration.

Food will include crab, fried fish, hotdogs and hamburgers. A list of musical performances is below.

Parts of two nearby roads, below, will be closed to accommodate the event, according to Arlington police.

  • 24th Street S. from Shirlington Road to S. Kenmore Street
  • S. Kenmore Street from 24th Street S. to Shirlington Road
