One seriously hurt after car driven into salon in Pentagon City

A woman was seriously injured when a car was driven into a Pentagon City salon over the weekend.

The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Posh Salon, on the ground floor of the Lenox Club apartment building at 401 12th Street S.

Initial reports suggest that a woman had a traumatic injury as a result of the crash, though it’s unclear whether she was a vehicle occupant or struck by the car. It’s also unclear what caused the crash, which involved a Tesla sedan that appeared to have a dealer license plate.

The Tesla caught fire after the crash, spreading smoke in the building and prompting an evacuation of residents, according to scanner traffic. Firefighters pulled it away from the structure to reduce the risk of the fire spreading.

“One patient has been transported to an area hospital with serious injuries,” the Arlington County Fire Department said on social media after the crash. “It was determined no structural integrity issues were found.”

The intersection of Army Navy Drive and 12th Street S. was shut down during the rescue response to the crash.

Video of the crash, below, posted Monday morning by local public safety watcher Dave Statter, shows the Tesla barrelling towards the salon while westbound on 12th Street.
