An attempted cell phone robbery Saturday night in Ballston was thwarted when people confronted the suspects.
That’s according to the latest Arlington County Police Department crime report.
Police say three male suspects in their late teens or early 20s, including two wearing ski masks, tried to take a phone from someone walking down N. Randolph Street, about a block away from Ballston Quarter. They fled on foot after “several witnesses confronted the suspects.”
The suspects remain at large. More, below, from ACPD.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 2024-09280185, 800 block of N. Randolph Street. At approximately 8:51 p.m. on September 28, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was walking in the area when three male suspects approached him, assaulted him and attempted to steal his cellphone. Several witnesses confronted the suspects, and they subsequently fled the scene on foot. The victim sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention. Responding officers canvassed the area for the suspects yielding negative results.
Also in the crime report, police are looking for a man who exposed himself this past Friday afternoon in a residential parking garage in Shirlington.
The suspect also “made threatening statements” to an employee who confronted him, police said.
INDECENT EXPOSURE, 2024-09270095, 3000 block of S. Randolph Street. At approximately 1:12 p.m. on September 27, police were dispatched to the report of threats. Upon arrival, it was determined the victims were inside a residential parking garage when they observed the male suspect expose himself. The victims reported the incident to an employee who subsequently confronted the suspect. The suspect made threatening statements towards the employee before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.
