The westbound lanes of Langston Blvd were blocked during the morning commute today due to a potentially serious crash.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a garbage truck struck an adult pedestrian around 8:48 a.m., while turning onto Langston Blvd along the busy artery at N. Ottawa Street, according to Arlington County police spokeswoman Ashley Savage.
Initial reports indicate that the pedestrian was unconscious after the crash. He was taken to a local hospital is in stable condition, according to Savage.
“The investigation is ongoing,” Savage said.
The truck had the logo of the contractor that provides residential waste collection services to Arlington County.
By 9:40 a.m. only one lane remained blocked, as a garbage truck remained parked in the road near three police vehicles.
“Seek an alternate route and expect delays,” Arlington County said earlier this morning via its Arlington Alert social media account.
The crash scene is near where a teen was struck by a car last week and a kid on a bike was struck in 2022.
