Yorktown High ice-hockey team 2-0 after blowout victory

The Yorktown High School club ice-hockey team scored early and often in a 10-0 blowout victory over Heritage/Rock Ridge.

Yorktown improved to 2-0 in a Northern Virginia Scholastic Hockey League Smyth Division match, and is in sole possession of first place.

Just 17 seconds into the action at the MedStar Capitals Iceplex, Will O’Sullivan ripped a shot past the goalie and the Patriots were off and running. O’Sullivan added a second goal moments later.

In all, seven different Yorktown players scored goals. In addition to O’Sullivan’s two, Roger Allenbaugh had a hat trick with three goals, and Logan McGraw, Matthew Hamrick, Matthew Herzfeld, Peyton Dunn and Andrew Levine each scored once.

Will Schryver had three assists. McGraw, O’Sullivan, Herzfeld, Dunn, Alex Olsen and Benson Kluger each had one.

Yorktown held Heritage to just four shots. Goalie Brendan Thompson got the victory in net.

The rest of the Yorktown lineup included Bennett Haas, Jamie Hardie, Andrew Olsen and Gunnar Obitts.

Next up for Yorktown is a Dec. 6 match at 6:30 p.m. against 3-0 Stone Bridge from the Norris Division at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. Stone Bridge also won its most recent match by a 10-0 score.
