UPDATED: Facebook blocked posts from ARLnow and ALXnow

ARLnow and sister site ALXnow were unable to post to Facebook most of the day today.

The issue cropped up Wednesday morning without warning or explanation. When we tried to post a link to one of our articles on the network, either directly or through our social media management system, it produced an error message (below).

We limit how often you can post, comment or do other things in a given amount of time in order to help protect the community from spam. You can try again later.

ARLnow and ALXnow have not been posting more than usual. We’re still able to create stories via Facebook and our linked Instagram page.

Efforts to contact Facebook have been unsuccessful. The network’s support system said there are no “feature limits” on ARLnow’s page and provides no options for further outreach.

The group Local Independent Online Publishers, of which ARLnow is a member, is no longer able to escalate issues to Meta representatives because they have all been laid off.

Facebook users who want to follow ARLnow are encouraged to sign up for our email newsletter or alerts.

As of 10 p.m., Facebook’s posting functionality now appears to be working on the ARLnow and ALXnow pages, after about 12 hours of posts being blocked.
