Goodwill has launched a new donation center out of a mobile trailer in Clarendon.
The nonprofit opened a Mobile Donation Express earlier this month at 2636 Wilson Blvd, near Whole Foods Market. Although moveable, the trailer will remain parked at the location for the foreseeable future, a Goodwill representative told ARLnow.
It’s open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekends
- The trailer accepts clothes, electronics, house wares and small appliances. Due to size constraints, it cannot accept large furniture.
- Goodwill hopes to extend the trailer’s hours to five days per week this spring.
- “We chose the Clarendon area because of its high population density, easy accessibility, and the tremendous generosity the Arlington community has always demonstrated,” a Goodwill representative wrote in an email.
It’s the first Goodwill trailer center in the region
- The nonprofit plans to open more trailer-style centers across the D.C. area.
- This site doesn’t sell anything, but donations will go to Goodwill stores and ultimately fund the nonprofit’s workforce development and education programs.
S. Glebe Road demolition approaches
- Arlington has three other Goodwill locations, with stores at 4714 Columbia Pike and 10 S. Glebe Road, and a donation center on 5210 Langston Blvd.
- The 10 S. Glebe Road location, which also accepts donations, is slated for redevelopment. Demolition is likely to begin in the second half of 2025.
- Redevelopment plans include an affordable housing complex, child care center and new Goodwill retail and donation center.
