Three people were arrested in Clarendon early this morning after a bar fight prompted a large police response.
An officer was flagged down by security at Don Tito shortly before 2 a.m. Monday, according to scanner traffic. The officer then requested backup to help “separate a couple of females inside.” That was soon followed by a more urgent request for more officers.
In an Arlington County Police Department crime report today, police said three people — all Germantown, Maryland residents — are now facing various charges.
ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2025-03100018, 3100 block of Wilson Boulevard. At approximately 1:52 a.m. on March 10, police were dispatched to the report of a fight. Upon arrival, responding officers observed a large crowd in the stairwell inside a business with two individuals engaged in a physical altercation. As the officers attempted to separate the parties, Suspect One struck an officer several times and actively resisted arrest before being taken into custody with the assistance of additional responding officers. During a search incident to arrest, suspected narcotics were recovered. [A suspect], 23, of Germantown, MD was arrested and charged with Assault on Police, Possession of Schedule I/II Controlled Substance and Public Intoxication and held without bond. Suspect Two attempted to intervene in Suspect One’s arrest and was also taken into custody. [A suspect], 31, of Germantown, MD was arrested and charged with Obstruction of Justice and Public Intoxication. An additional suspect was on scene acting disorderly and taken into custody. [A suspect], 22, of Germantown, MD was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication.
Apparent traffic cam video of the aftermath of the fight was captured by local public safety watcher Dave Statter, who has been chronicling numerous incidents of rowdy behavior in Clarendon’s bar district.
Despite efforts to address nightlife issues in Clarendon, drunken incidents have continued, particularly on Sunday nights and early Monday mornings. Bar Bao closed early two weeks ago after a fight and some belligerent patrons prompted a pair of police responses.
Separately, today’s crime report notes another alleged assault on law enforcement. A 25-year-old man spat on a parking enforcement officer in Ballston this past Saturday morning, according to ACPD.
ASSAULT ON LAW ENFORCEMENT, 2025-03080110, 1100 block of N. Vernon Street. At approximately 10:36 a.m. on March 8, a uniformed Arlington County Police Department Traffic Safety Specialist (TSS) was dispatched to the report of a parking complaint. The TSS was inside their marked County vehicle while conducting parking enforcement in the area when the male suspect allegedly approached and began to yell and bang on the vehicle. The TSS then exited their vehicle and the suspect spat on them before fleeing the scene on foot. No injuries were reported. Responding officers located the suspect in the area and took him into custody. [The suspect], 25, of Burke, Va. was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.
