Launching this weekend: a weekly sports newsletter

ARLnow is launching a new sports newsletter this weekend.

The ARLnow Sports Update will be sent on Saturdays around 4 p.m. and will compile our local sports coverage from the past week in one place. All current newsletter subscribers will get it, but you can easily opt out if sports aren’t your thing — just click “preferences” at the end of the email.

The newsletter launch responds to feedback we’ve gotten from readers who thought sports should stand on its own and not get scattered across a week’s worth of news-focused newsletters. As part of the launch, we’ve removed sports stories from the Sunday weekend update and top weekly stories newsletter, and have consolidated sports-related social media posts on weekends.

The Sports Update will be sent in the new Pro Update format familiar to ARLnow Press Club members, with larger photos, article summaries and no sidebar ads. This will allow anyone with a casual interest in local high school sports to catch up quickly.

Sports-related editorial inquiries can be sent via email to sports editor Dave Facinoli.
