Arlington bookseller plans weekend giveaways for Independent Bookstore Day

Free books, puzzles and prizes are coming to One More Page Books this weekend in celebration of Independent Bookstore Day.

The woman-owned shop in East Falls Church has planned a day of giveaways from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. this Saturday at 2200 N. Westmoreland Street.

Customers who find the store’s Willy Wonka-inspired golden ticket will receive 12 free audiobook credits from Libro.fm. The store will also have hidden silver tickets, which earn a giveaway from the book prize cart.

One More Page Books will be debuting some new branded merchandise and, weather permitting, will offer outdoor tables stocked with free books and puzzles.

“Independent Bookstore Day is one of our favorite days of the year,” owner Eileen McGervey said in a release. “It celebrates both the bookseller AND the reader. Indie Bookstore Day is a way to say thank you to our loyal and supportive customers and friends.”

Saturday also marks the start of the second annual NoVa + Indie Bookstore Crawl, which will feature a giveaway program through May 31.

One More Page Books is one of 15 participating independent bookstores across Northern Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland.

Crawl participants must visit participating stores to collect stamps on their “passport.” Four stamps earn a book prize, eight stamps earn a tote bag and 10 stamps can be entered to win a grand prize basket with items from each participating store.
