GW Parkway bridges in Arlington scheduled for repairs this month

Repairs on several GW Parkway bridges in Arlington are continuing this month as part of a major rehabilitation project.

Crews will continue work on bridges at the following locations, the National Park Service said in a monthly update:

  • Pimmit Run
  • Donaldson Run
  • Windy Run
  • Gulf Branch
  • Spout Run Southbound Arch
  • Chain Bridge Road interchange

Last month, crews painted bridges at Donaldson Run and Windy Run, continued “structural repairs” at Pimmit Run and Gulf Branch and performed “erosion repairs” at Spout Run.

The agency didn’t respond to a request for more information on what this month’s bridge repairs will involve.

To allow for roadwork, GW Parkway’s southbound lane will be closed between Chain Bridge Road and Spout Run Parkway from 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 21 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 22.

Closures will also be in effect at the same times the following weekend. This will require traffic to detour onto N. Glebe Road and Langston Blvd.

Unrelated to the ongoing roadwork, a stretch of GW Parkway will also be closed for the military parade in D.C. from 6 p.m. tomorrow (Friday) through 6 a.m. on Sunday.

The road will be closed in both directions between Arlington Blvd and I-395.
