Summer movie nights on Columbia Pike start this Friday

A series of free outdoor movie nights on Columbia Pike begins this Friday with “The Wizard of Oz.”

Columbia Pike Movie Nights are coming to two outdoor plazas on Fridays and Saturdays this summer. Hosted by the Columbia Pike Partnership, the series will provide weekly movie screenings at the Arlington Mill Community Center and Penrose Square Apartments until late August.

Movies will start at 8:30 p.m. each night and include English and Spanish subtitles. Leashed pets are permitted at both venues, and organizers encourage guests to bring chairs or blankets.

  • July 11: “The Wizard of Oz”
  • July 18: “Moana”
  • July 25: “Scooby Doo”
  • Aug. 1: “Beetlejuice”
  • Aug. 8: “Inside Out”
  • Aug. 15: “The Lion King”
  • Aug. 22: “Mufasa: The Lion King”

Saturday movies at Penrose Square Apartments

  • July 12: “Wicked”
  • July 19: “Moana 2”
  • July 26: “The Garfield Movie”
  • Aug. 2: “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”

Elsewhere in Arlington, George Mason University’s summer movie series will continue at 8:30 p.m. next Friday, July 18, with “Little Shop of Horrors” at 3401 Fairfax Drive.
