New yacht rock cabaret debuts at Signature Theater in Shirlington this week

Sounds of summer are coming to Shirlington this week with the start of a new yacht rock cabaret.

Sailing: Yacht Rock” premieres tomorrow night (Tuesday) at Signature Theatre, featuring the melodies of Christopher Cross and quintessential yacht rock tunes like “Escape (The Pina Colada Song)” and “What a Fool Believes.”

“Grab a drink and set sail as Deimoni Brewington and Tracy Lynn Olivera serenade you with those catchy melodies and lighthearted lyrics of yacht rock,” Signature Theatre said in a press release.

Tickets are $53 for the performance, which will be in show at 4200 Campbell Avenue through Sunday, Aug. 10. This is Signature’s final cabaret until late February, when it will begin showings of “I’m Here: Black Broadway.”

Four other performances are scheduled to take the stage at Signature Theatre through the rest of the year. The complete lineup is below.

Play On!

When: Aug. 12 – Oct. 5

This musical set in 1930s Harlem incorporates the music of Duke Ellington into a comedic tale based on William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night.”

Strategic Love Play

Signature is hosting the D.C.-area premiere of this “not quite romantic comedy.” The play addresses the complexities of modern dating through two main characters who “match” online.

Fiddler on the Roof

This classic, award-winning Broadway musical tells the story of Tevye, a Jewish milkman, and his family as they navigate life in 1900s Russia and increasing antisemitism.

In Clay

When: Dec. 9 – Feb. 1, 2026

Finally, Signature is hosting the American premiere of this new musical based on the life of Marie-Berthe Cazin, a twentieth century artist. Set in 1930s Paris, the show features an “upbeat, vibrant Parisian jazz score.”
