Police are looking for a suspect in a serious assault in Crystal City.
It happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday along 23rd Street S., just east of Route 1. Police say the suspect approached the victim, demanded his backpack, and struck him with a glass bottle when he refused. The suspect fled and the victim was hospitalized with serious injuries.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 2025-09240157, 23rd Street S. at S. Clark Street. At approximately 8:00 p.m. on September 24, police were dispatched to the report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined the male victim was outside when the male suspect approached and demanded his backpack. When the victim refused, a physical altercation ensued during which the suspect struck the victim with a glass bottle before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital. There is no suspect description. The investigation is ongoing.
Also in the crime report were a pair of assaults on police Wednesday, along Langston Blvd and in Pentagon City.

ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2025-09240095, 2500 block of Langston Boulevard. At approximately 2:24 p.m. on September 24, police were dispatched to the report of public intoxication. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect allegedly entered the store, caused property damage and collected merchandise before exiting without payment. Two employees confronted him outside the business and a struggle ensued during which the employees sustained minor injuries. Responding officers located the suspect inside the business and took him into custody. While he was in custody, he kicked an officer. The suspect sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital. [The suspect], 20, of Fredericksburg, Va. was arrested and charged with Assault on Police, Robbery (x2), Destruction of Property and Public Intoxication. He was held without bond.
ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2025-09240136, 1200 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 5:30 p.m. on September 24, an officer inside the Pentagon City Metro Station observed the male suspect fare evade and confronted him during which he exhibited signs of being under the influence. The officer took the suspect into custody and the suspect spat on them. Medics responded and cleared the suspect on scene for minor self-inflicted injuries. The officer did not sustain any injuries. [The suspect], 34, of No Fixed Address was arrested and charged with Assault on Police, Fare Evasion and Public Intoxication. He was held without bond.
