Brine trucks deployed in Arlington ahead of possible winter weather tonight

Brine trucks are out on the roads in Arlington ahead of expected winter weather this evening.

The National Weather Service predicts snowfall throughout much of Northern Virginia as a cold front tracks through the region beginning this evening (Monday). As of this afternoon, a small amount of accumulation is expected immediately to the west of Arlington, including in Falls Church.

Arlington County and the Virginia Department of Transportation deployed brine trucks in Arlington nonetheless.

“The County will have a small deployment of salt trucks brining select main roads this afternoon into early evening in preparation for tomorrow,” county spokesperson Kiara Candelaria Nieves told ARLnow. “We’re closely monitoring the forecast and will have crews on standby in the morning.”

She encouraged people to check the Department of Environmental Services’ social media accounts for more updates, as well as the county’s snow and ice page.

“If you have travel plans, slow down, increase your following distance & check http://511.VDOT.Virginia.gov for conditions along your entire route,” VDOT advised in a social media post.
