Signage for a new discount grocery store has appeared all over a vacant storefront in Falls Church, breathing new life into the site after more than two years.
Many details about the Grocery Outlet Bargain Market at 500 S. Washington Street remain unclear, including its opening date. As the new location attracts questions and even some early reviews, here’s a look at what is publicly known.
Grocery Outlet carries discount name-brand items
- The grocery store sells items at lower prices than many other stores because they are primarily overstock or closeout products.
- However, unlike other discount chains like Aldi and Lidl, it carries a wide selection of name-brand goods. Its website lists products from Kellogg’s, Smuckers, General Mills, Del Monte and more.
- That said, locations’ inventories tend to be limited and they can change from month to month and week to week.
It will be the brand’s first Virginia location
- Though the chain has a handful of locations in Maryland, its East Coast presence is relatively small.
- Among over 500 locations, the vast majority are spread across California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Nevada.
- In February 2024, the brand acquired United Grocery Outlet, another grocer with 40 stores in the Southeast.
