Ireland’s Four Courts holding World Cup draw watch party Friday

A Fox 5 TV crew will be at a popular Courthouse bar tomorrow (Friday) for a FIFA World Cup draw watch party.

Ireland’s Four Courts will be showing the action, which is taking place at the Kennedy Center in D.C., from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. As the bar at 2051 Wilson Blvd offers food and drink specials, as well as giveaways, to commemorate the event, Fox 5 reporter Julie Donaldson will be there to capture the sights and sounds, Four Courts general manager Dave Cahill told ARLnow.

“We get a lot of people in from different embassies and from different nationalities to come into the pub, to watch soccer,” Cahill said. “There’s a lot of interest in to see what group [players] end up drawn in.”

The World Cup draw will reveal 42 of the 48 countries participating in the tournament, as well as who each country’s opponents will be in the initial group stage.

The United States has already been drawn into Group D, attributable to it being one of three host countries.

Each of the group’s scheduled games will be held in June. Currently, the United States is scheduled to take to the pitch on June 12 (Inglewood, Calif.), June 19 (Seattle) and June 25 (Inglewood).

As one of the hosts, the Americans will advance to the knockout stage — elimination with a single loss — regardless of their performance.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup officially kicks off on June 11, with 16 different host cities across Canada, the U.S. and Mexico hosting matches.

Road closures will be in effect around the Kennedy Center in D.C., just over the river from Arlington, in conjunction with the event, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
