Arlington County police are investigating gunfire near Courthouse.
The shots rang out around 12:40 p.m. Saturday in the area of 13th Street N. and N. Taft Street, across from the Taft Towers condo complex in the Radnor/Fort Myer Heights neighborhood.
Police rushed to the scene but no one was hurt and the suspect had already fled in a black Toyota Camry with tinted windows, according to scanner traffic. Witnesses reportedly described the weapon as a handgun with an extended magazine.
“Expect continued police presence in the area,” police said via social media.
On Monday, ACPD released a crime report saying that two people fired gunshots at each other during the incident.
SHOTS FIRED, 2025-12270093, 13th Street N. at N. Taft Street. At approximately 12:42 p.m. on December 27, an officer conducting proactive patrols heard what appeared to be shots fired in the area. Additional responding officers recovered evidence confirming several shots had been fired. The preliminary investigation indicates the male suspect walked towards a parked vehicle, discharged a firearm and ran from the scene. An occupant of the vehicle then allegedly discharged a firearm before driving away from the scene. Officers conducted a canvass of the area for the suspect and the vehicle yielding negative results. No injuries or property damage from the shooting were reported. The suspect is described as a light-skinned Black male in his teens, wearing black sweatpants and a black jacket. The involved vehicle is described as a black sedan. The investigation is ongoing.
