Man repeatedly shouting “six seven” rescued from Clarendon rooftop

Arlington police and firefighters teamed up to rescue a distraught man on a lower rooftop of the Axios building in Clarendon this morning.

Police were called to the office tower at 3100 Clarendon Blvd — headquarters of the national news organization and previously of ARLnow — just before 10:30 a.m. for a report of a man on a fourth floor rooftop suffering a possible panic attack.

A witness tells ARLnow that the man was repeatedly shouting “six seven,” an apparent reference to the popular meme.

Police officers quickly reached the man, who had apparently climbed a ladder from a lower rooftop to reach his perch. They shackled him then helped him onto the bucket of an Arlington County Fire Department ladder truck.

Upon safely reaching the ground, the man was loaded into the back of a police SUV.

The man will not face charges, an Arlington County police spokeswoman tells ARLnow.

“At approximately 10:22 a.m. on January 8, police were dispatched to the report of an individual on the rooftop of a building in the 3000 block of Clarendon Boulevard,” said ACPD’s Ashley Savage. “With the assistance of the Arlington County Fire Department, the individual was safely removed from the rooftop. No injuries were reported. No criminal charges were sought related to the incident.”
