Two hurt after vehicle overturns in crash near Ballston

Two people were hospitalized after a lunchtime crash near Ballston.

Police and firefighters were dispatched around 12:40 p.m. to the intersection of Wilson Blvd and N. Wakefield Street, in the Bluemont neighborhood just west of Ballston, for an overturned vehicle.

The two people inside the vehicle needed to be extricated by firefighters, but their injuries were described as non-life-threatening. They were both taken by ambulance to nearby Virginia Hospital Center.

The circumstances leading to the crash are unclear.

Wilson Blvd was briefly blocked due to the rescue operation and cleanup, but is now back open.
