An 18-year-old Arlington man is facing an array of charges after an incident in Fort Myer Heights that started with a noise complaint.
Officers were called to the 1600 block of 16th Street N. early Saturday morning and “encountered a group outside the building smoking marijuana in public,” according to an Arlington County Police Department crime report.
One person allegedly tried to run off but was taken into custody a couple of blocks away. More, below, from ACPD.
WEAPONS VIOLATION, 2026-01170041, 1600 block of 16th Street N. At approximately 1:29 a.m. on January 17, police were dispatched to the report of a noise complaint at a residential building. Upon arrival, officers encountered a group outside the building smoking marijuana in public. The suspect fled from officers and following a foot pursuit, he was taken into custody in the 1500 block of N. Queen Street. During a search of the suspect incident to arrest, a loaded firearm and magazine were recovered. [The suspect], 18, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with Unlawfully Carrying a Concealed Handgun, Obstruction of Justice, and Possession of Marijuana by a Person Less than 21 Years of Age.

Also in the crime report, a disturbance inside a Pentagon City store led to an arrest during which an officer was assaulted by a man who turned out to be an unregistered sex offender, according to police.

ASSAULT ON POLICE, 2026-01200137, 1200 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 3:10 p.m. on January 20, police were dispatched to the report of an assault. Upon arrival, it was determined the male suspect entered the business and allegedly began to disrupt merchandise and other customers inside the store. When an employee confronted the suspect, he made threatening statements, and the employee called the police. Responding officers located the suspect at the scene and issued commands to which he was non-compliant and struck an officer. The suspect continued to struggle with the officers until he was subsequently taken into custody. [The suspect], 49, of No Fixed Address, was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery on Law Enforcement, Attempted Assault and Battery, Obstruction of Justice, Disorderly Conduct and Failure to Register as a Tier III Sex Offender. He was held without bond.
