Arlington Public Schools will be closed for a second day tomorrow (Tuesday).
The school system, which also closed schools today after the weekend’s winter storm, announced the closure this afternoon “due to the accumulation of ice and snow.”
Arlington County is still in “Phase 2” of its snow removal operation, meaning crews are focusing on main and secondary routes. Neighborhood streets remain largely covered in an increasingly icy combination of snow and sleet — amid frigid conditions and high temperatures that are expected to remain below freezing for at least a week.
The complete APS announcement is below.
CODE 1: Due to the accumulation of ice and snow, all APS schools and offices will be closed tomorrow, Tue, Jan. 27, 2026. Unless otherwise directed by their supervisors, custodial, maintenance and essential transportation staff should report to work at their scheduled time.
Extracurricular activities, games, team practices, field trips, adult education classes, and programs in schools and on school grounds are canceled.
