March Madness in Arlington and Falls Church: Where to watch and find deals

With just days to go until the first round of March Madness, numerous sports bars across Arlington and Falls Church are ready with drinks and bites for sports fans of all stripes.

As establishments offer deals ranging from beers and seltzers to appetizers and wings, here are some local spots to try out while watching this month’s games.

BOE

The country-themed bar is screening games and offering March Madness specials throughout the weekend. Drink specials from noon to 7 p.m. include $4 beers and $5 seltzers, plus a “mad bucket” deal with five light beers for $12 or five seltzers for $20.

Crystal City Sports Pub

The pub and watering hole for several alumni groups plans to show every game across 100-plus television screens. A happy hour from 3-6 p.m. Monday through Friday includes a selection of $4.50 drafts, $4 rail liquor and $8.99 appetizers.

GrillMarX

For “MarX Madness,” the new steakhouse and raw bar in Falls Church is offering $3 domestic beers, $7 rails and select wines, and a $15 beer-and-wings combo during March Madness games.

First Down Sports Bar and Grill

The Ballston sports bar has 30 televisions and up to 50 different wing flavors to choose from. Its “Wing Sauce Madness” bracket competition is also back for another year, with voting available on the business’s Instagram Stories.

Highline RxR

The Arlington Young Democrats are hosting a March Madness watch party at this Crystal City beer hall at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26.

Starting this Wednesday, the bar is also hosting a “DMV Beer Madness Elite 8 Tap Tournament” to determine the best local beers based on sales. Patrons have until March 21 to fill out brackets.

Hyde Social

This Clarendon bar and restaurant is opening at noon this Thursday and Friday with plans to show games across more than 20 screens. Happy hour from 4-7 p.m., Monday through Friday, includes cocktails starting at $10, $3 off draft beers and a $25 burger-and-pint deal.

Ireland’s Four Courts

The Irish pub has plans to show every game this year, and its “Road to the Final Four (Courts)” bracket competition is currently underway. Up to two brackets may be submitted per entry to win prizes.

Open Road Grill

The Rosslyn restaurant is hosting a bracket tournament with top prizes of $500, $200 and $100 gift cards to the Metropolitan Hospitality Group restaurants.

Solace Outpost

The Falls Church pub has plans to stream March Madness alongside its regular happy hour deal with $3 beers from 3-4 p.m., $4 beers from 4-5 p.m. and $5 beers from 5-6 p.m.

William Jeffrey’s Tavern

William Jeffrey’s Tavern is inviting guests to “catch all the matchups and all the madness” from noon Thursday to midnight Sunday on its 16-plus screens. Rotating specials currently include shepherd’s pie, reuben spring rolls and brunch corned beef hash for St. Patrick’s Day.

Wood & Iron 

Fresh off its grand opening in Virginia Square, Wood & Iron plans to show every March Madness game across almost three dozen screens inside and on an outdoor patio. Themed shooters will be available during the games, in addition to a half-off chicken sandwich meal deal this Thursday, half-off chicken wings every Monday and a weekend brunch from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Quincy Hall

The Ballston beer hall will be offering several specials during March Madness games, including $20 pitchers of Mexican lager, “buy 4 get 5” deals on canned beers and cocktails, and green tea shots for $8 or Fireball for $5.
