An annual arts festival in Clarendon and an Earth Day celebration near Langston Blvd will result in some road closures this weekend.
The 12th annual Arlington Festival of the Arts will kick off the weekend with over 125 exhibitors showcasing original pieces beginning on Saturday. The following roads will be closed from 3 a.m. Saturday through 8 p.m. Sunday.
- Westbound Washington Blvd, from 10th Street N. to Clarendon Blvd
- The left lane of eastbound Washington Blvd, from Clarendon Blvd to N. Garfield Street (the right lane will be open to motor vehicle traffic)
- N. Highland Street, from Clarendon Blvd to Washington Blvd (local traffic will be able to access the parking garage for 3100 Clarendon Blvd from 11th Street N.)
Another celebration in front of Lee Heights Shops will also take place on Sunday. Although Earth Day was yesterday (Wednesday), the Earth Day Everyday Festival will bring live music, community booths, an art market and kids activities, along with a community art project, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
In honor of the theme, the Water Pollution Control Plant will be returning with its “Let It FLOW!” bean bag toss, which teaches players about the proper way to dispose of common household waste. The festival has over 50 booths lined up, including food and drink from Snowflakes & Co., King of Pops, Sloppy Mama’s BBQ and the Rossana coffee truck.
The following roads will be closed from 6 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Sunday.
- Cherry Hill Road between N. Woodstock Street and N. Woodrow Street
- Northbound N. Woodrow Street between 20th Road N. and Cherry Hill Road will be restricted to local traffic only
