Dog rescued, firefighter injured in high-rise apartment fire

A dog was rescued from an apartment fire in Arlington this morning.

The fire was reported around 8:45 a.m. Thursday on the second floor of a high-rise building in the 4500 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive, just south of Columbia Pike, according to the Arlington County Fire Department.

“Upon arrival, crews encountered smoke showing from a second-floor window. Firefighters quickly located the apartment and extinguished the fire,” ACFD said on social media.

Crews remained on scene afterward “conducting ventilation operations,” the department said.

In a final update, ACFD said one firefighter was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and one resident was displaced by the fire. Fire Marshals are on scene investigating the cause.
