ACPD investigating armed robbery at Langston Blvd jewelry store

A group of five men, at least two of whom were brandishing guns, robbed a jewelry store along Langston Blvd late last week.

The robbery happened around 2 p.m. Friday at Sonia Jewelers (5155 Langston Blvd) — a nearly 40-year-old local business specializing in South Asian gold jewelry, with locations in Arlington and Springfield.

“Five suspects forced entry into the secured business by breaking a glass window,” said today’s Arlington County Police Department crime report. “Once inside the business, the suspects caused property damage to display cases and concealed jewelry.”

“Suspect One made threatening statements while brandishing what appeared to be a firearm,” according to ACPD. “Suspect Two also displayed what appeared to be a firearm. All suspects fled the scene with the stolen merchandise in a vehicle that is described as a black sedan. No injuries were reported.”

Initial reports suggest the getaway vehicle was a Tesla with Florida tags.

The men were all wearing dark clothing and face coverings, police said. They remain at large.

“The investigation is ongoing,” said ACPD.
